Liberia: The Central Bank of Liberia is withdrawing all banknotes printed before 2021, according to media reports. The old notes will lose legal tender status on March 31, 2024.
The Liberian legislature authorised a new currency issue in May 2021, and the first shipments of the new currency issue arrived at the central bank in November 2021.
In January 2022, the central bank burned L$669 million ($3.6 million) in damaged banknotes.
