The Bank of Uganda has asked the public to stop making decorative “bouquets” from its banknotes and coins, saying the practice makes it harder to distribute cash.
Ugandans give the currency bouquets as gifts at weddings, birthdays or other occasions, such as school exams.
The statement, published on November 22, urged “florists, designers, gifting stylists and their clients” not to make “bouquets or any like creations”. This often involves gluing, taping or pinning freshly issued banknotes
